My Neighbors, My Monads

2025

Open Studio installation, mixed media, variable dimensions, 2025, Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris, France

Created for the Open Studio at Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, My Neighbors, My Monads is composed of small, self-contained units—fragments, traces, and quiet presences gathered from everyday proximity. Here, a “monad” is not a symbol but a working structure: a complete unit that holds its own integrity, yet does not explain itself. Each element can be encountered on its own, without requiring a single narrative to “unlock” it.

When these units are placed together, meaning does not accumulate as a total picture; it appears between them—in the distances, repetitions, and subtle shifts that link one presence to another. The work invites viewers to move slowly, noticing how relationships form and dissolve: neighbor to neighbor, object to space, attention to memory. In this threshold state, the installation becomes a field of encounters where what feels clear and what remains unresolved coexist, and where the viewer’s own way of reading—what to keep, what to let go—quietly comes into view.
