People form a particular relationship with the home. It is where we eat, sleep, and wash; where we place the objects we care about; where we repeatedly dust surfaces and clean windows; and where we invite those closest to us. The home is at once our most private and intimate space and the place where we can stay and rest most comfortably as ourselves, without wearing a social mask. It is also a space where the conscious and

unconscious can communicate most freely. Few words seem more closely connected to the idea of everyday life than “home.”

I have come to recognise this place as an intimate space in between. Until now, my idea of “the liminal” has often remained within something ambiguous—an abstract condition that resists clear definition. In this work, I turn instead toward the home as an actual, lived space. By focusing on a place that can be seen, touched, and felt by the living body, I want to bring the idea of liminality out of abstraction and into the immediacy of the present.
